Bombed Out! records Peter Alan Lloyd's personal journey through 1970s and 1980s Liverpool, including working in, playing at, and going to see Punk and New Wave bands in the legendary Eric's Club.

It includes references to music of the period, especially by Punk and New Wave bands, but also to many best-forgotten chart hits of the '70s and early '80s. Based on contemporary diaries, Bombed Out! details Peter's life in New Wave bands (Pink Military Stand Alone and Pete Burns' Nightmares in Wax AKA Dead or Alive), and contrasts Liverpool's vibrant music scene that gave rise to bands such as Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Teardrop Explodes, Elvis Costello, A Flock of Seagulls, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and Dead or Alive, with the 1980s recession and the Toxteth Riots.

Peter's spell in the Liverpool music business didn't turn out quite as he'd hoped, but it gave him the motivation to aspire to something else entirely, as the city of Liverpool and the whole country slid into a deep, painful recession, and a lifetime of unemployment loomed.
