A Book About What Autism Can be Like

by Written and illustrated by Sue Adams - £8.99  Jessica Kingsley Publishers (2008)
paperback    ISBN 13: 9781843109402 | ISBN 10: 1843109409

Chris and Andrew are very good friends. They are the same in many ways. But they are different in many ways too. This is because Chris has autism.

Sue Adams' story helps to explain some of the differences that can come with autism - how Chris processes information differently, how he has different wants and needs, how his senses are much 'stronger', while the senses of other children with autism may be much weaker. Even children with autism are different from each other.

The book aims to provide young minds with an understanding and appreciation, not just of autism, but also of friendship, and of difference more generally. It makes an excellent starting point for family and classroom discussions, and will be of interest to parent, teachers and all professionals working with groups of children where some have autism and some do not.
